The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE) is honoured to host the 2025 annual conference of the Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS).
CAETS is an independent international organisation of engineering and technological sciences Academies.
This prestigious event will gather representatives from the 31 global CAETS Academies, bringing together exceptional leaders in technology, engineering, and applied science from around the globe.
Generations: Shaping a sustainable future in 50 years
Generations is the central theme of CAETS 2025, focusing on shaping a sustainable future over the next 50 years through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Take a journey with us as we project the technology and sustainable systems needed for a thriving 2075.
It’s 1975. Microsoft is founded changing digital technology forever. The first Apple prototype is unveiled revolutionising the tech world. The western world is in recession exacerbated by oil dependency. The Vietnam war comes to an end. Three countries are led by women. The term "global warming” is coined.
It’s 2025. Digital technology underpins most facets of our lives and technology such as AI is changing everything. Governments around the world are grappling with how to tackle climate crises, cyber threats, and heath pandemics. Rocketing demand and finite agricultural, water, energy and mineral resource availability is creating an efficiency crunch. 15 countries are led by women.
It’s 2075. Sustainable technology and engineering has taken a quantum leap. What emerging R&D and megatrends have characterised the last 50 years?
The theme invites you to reflect on past achievements, assess current challenges, and envision future innovations.
It will bring together exceptional leaders in technology, engineering and applied science from around the world, in a gathering of over 30 of the world’s engineering and applied science Academies - a special event that looks back to move forward.
This conference will feature:
- Renowned speakers: Over 40 high-profile international and local speakers from various generations will share insights and experiences.
- Plenary sessions: Addressing key issues from the past, present, and future to provide a comprehensive understanding of our journey.
